St. Patrick's Day in C-Town

This past weekend was, of course, St. Patrick’s Day. As is somewhat tradition in our little family, Randy and I made a beeline for Columbus to spend the weekend with Dave.

Side note: We seem to spend a lot of holidays with Dave and more recently, with his lovely girlfriend Amanda. In the last few months we have spent Halloween, New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day with them. Many more to come I am sure…perhaps even a wedding. WooHoo!

Anyway, we had dinner at Mary Kelley’s in Dublin and then headed over to Brazenhead where we actually managed to get a table – shocking, I know. There was a great Irish band playing in the tent and I got to hear one of my favorite Irish ballads – The Fields of Athenry. It isn’t a happy song by any stretch of the imagination but it is beautiful and it had been a long time since I heard it – I first fell in love with it back in NYC when I hung out at an Irish bar called Ryan’s. Hearing it brought back some fun memories.

A good St. Patrick’s Day all around.
