I had lunch last week with the Capital Club’s Private Events Manager, Diana Holt. She showed me around the club and shared with me a couple of things that most people probably don’t realize about the Capital Club.

First and foremost, you don’t have to be a member to hold an event at the Capital Club. Although the club is private, anyone can hold their event there for a small fee and food and beverage minimum. Also, you don’t need a member sponsor – a new policy for the Capital Club and something that is somewhat unique among private clubs in the area.

The Capital Club isn’t big but for average sized weddings and rehearsal dinners, it could be an interesting choice. And one of the best parts? The rental fees and minimums are low – surprisingly so.

The President’s Dining Room holds up to 150 for dinner. Rental includes chairs, tables, use of the Versailles Room (Diana mentioned it makes a great cake table) and the Terrace plus the Living Room and two smaller rooms that can be used for the bridal party or buffet. The room is neutral with gorgeous chandeliers – you can easily paint the room to match your event with uplighting and linens. The rental fee is a crazy low $500 with a food and beverage minimum of $3000.

LeBistro is another option that would be perfect for a rehearsal dinner or a intimate wedding as it holds up to 80 guests. It is more club like and masculine than the President’s Dining Room. It has a great fire place and an attached pub that serves as the room’s private bar. The rental fee is only $250 with a food and beverage minimum of $1000.

Another fun thing about the Capital Club is that the chef is all about the custom menu. Just gives him your ideas and he will build a menu around your theme. Diana was telling me about a wedding they have coming up with different stations that were all created by the bride, groom and Capital Club’s chef. There are no preset menus here, they will all be custom designed to fit your tastes, themes and budget.

There are pictures of the different rooms and more information on their website: Capital Club. Make sure to check out pictures of the Versailles Room – I am in love with the silver walls!
