Megan + James: 06.24.06

A 2 year engagement gives a bride and groom a lot of time to pray for beautiful weather. All that praying paid off for Megan and James as a solid week of rain, heat and ridiculous humidity gave way to bright, clear sunshine, temperatures in the high seventies and a light breeze. It was the perfect Columbus, Ohio summer day.

I have rarely seen a bride look more graceful – something in the way Megan carries herself (possibly from her years as a professional ballet dancer with the Columbus Met). She was simply lovely.

Megan’s ‘something old’ was her Grandfather’s gold pocket watch, which we pinned to her bouquet as a powerful reminder that even those who have passed on are still with us on special days.

The gorgeous weather meant the reception could be held outside in a pretty white tent with lots of flowers – hydrangeas, roses and mini callas. We also had lemons in the centerpieces and on the place card table. All together, it felt perfectly summery!

The Father of the Bride’s toast to his daughter and new son-in-law was the most moving, heartfelt and eloquent speech I have ever heard a Father give. It was absolutely lovely and reduced me (and many others in the room) to tears.

This wedding was a bit of a reunion for me personally as the parents and brother of a past bride were in attendance as well as the parents and bride and groom for an upcoming wedding. Megan and James and her parents will be at that upcoming wedding so I will get to see them soon as well. I spend so much time with them during the planning of the wedding that I miss my couples and their families and friends after the big day. I love when I get to catch up with past clients!

I know I say this a lot, but this couple was just breathtaking – wait until you see the photos. Pictures to come from the extremely talented, super cool, husband and wife team at Davis Photography.
