If your dog is going to be part of your wedding (even if just for pictures) shouldn’t they get a new outfit too?  Enter Silly Buddy on Etsy!  Leashes, collars and doggie bow ties that can be custom made to match your wedding.  Just look at that little face!  Adorbs!

I thought these would be fun for a beach wedding/honeymoon or bridesmaids gift – you’ve seen the flip flops that leave a message in the sand?  They’re usually pretty generic so how about a custom one?  For around $20 a pair, you can have a custom message put into the bottom of different color flip flops from Flipsidez.com!

Favorite Gown: If I am being honest, I must admit that I don’t care for the majority of the mother’s gowns out there.  They just seem so heavy – too much beading, heavy lace, and long sleeves.  Moms are celebrating the expansion of their families with a wedding – they are gaining a son or daughter – so they should look and FEEL gorgeous too!!  I am a HUGE fan of Collection 20 from Watters – the gowns are elegant and well styled.  They have taken the typical ‘worry’ areas for women into account such as arms, legs and hips.  Plus it is Watters so they have a gajillion colors – I love this short gown (its available floor length too) with the lace overlay and ribbon sash.  The dress is available in 10 colors, the sash in 28 colors and the lace in 3 colors – that makes it SO easy to coordinate (not match!) with the bridal party.  Remember, mom’s gown does not have to make her feel matronly but it should make her feel beautiful!

Favorite Bouquet: Some moms simply don’t want to wear a traditional corsage – maybe don’t want to pin something on and ruin their dress or they really don’t like wrist corsages. Luckily, moms have a lot of options for flowers for the wedding – of course a pin on or wrist corsage, but purse corsages, hair flowers, and nosegays are options as well.  I love when the bride surprises mom with a smaller version of the bouquet she carried at her own wedding – can you imagine the look on her face when she sees it?  Just find some pictures and your florist should be able to help!

Favorite Gift: I think questions about what to get the parents is among my top three most often asked questions.  Typically I see couples giving their parents an album of the pictures after the wedding – a hanky is also a pretty standard wedding day gift.  I am also a fan of giving mom something special just for her that she can have after the wedding as well.  Birthstone jewelry is always very popular and lots of moms have stacking birthstone rings or necklaces with their kid’s birthstones.  A really sweet touch would be to give your new mother in law something with your birthstone on it to add to it – after all the saying goes the mom and dad aren’t losing a child, they’re gaining one, right?  Love this pendant with a name, date, and birthstone from Red Envelope!

Favorite Incorporation: I love when brides want to find a way to incorporate their mother’s or grandmother’s gown or veil into their own wedding day ensemble.  I haven’t had a bride wear their mom’s gown but I have had bride’s wear their mother’s veil.  I have also seen pieces of gowns and veils turned into ring pillows, garters, chuppah toppers, and more.  There is a great rundown on DIY Bride of different ways to incorporate your mom’s gown – just click here!  My favorite is using a piece of fabric or lace from mom’s gown as a bouquet wrap – just make sure mom is okay with cutting up her gown first!  Love the buttons on this one!

Favorite Tribute: For those brides and grooms whose moms are no longer with them, the wedding day can be a really tough one.  We try to come up with ways to honor their memory and still make the bride or groom feel like mom is walking right alongside them.  We’ve done handkerchiefs around the bouquet handle, wedding pictures of the parents on easels in the ceremony room, memorial flowers in a prominent place, etc.  One of my very favorite ways to honor a mom who has passed on is to attach a locket with her picture in it to the bouquet – this can be done for the bride’s mom or the groom’s and is a lovely way to honor their memory on a day they would have loved.

Favorite Mom: My mom Kris, of course!  Add my wonderful Grandmothers, mother in law Shelby and ALL the Moms I’ve been lucky enough to work with over the years (usually at least 2 a wedding!) and I have been extraordinarily blessed with amazing role models.  I only hope I can to live up to those role models for my own girls.  This picture was taken several years ago at Abby’s first birthday party by Grogan Studios.

I’ll be celebrating with my girls – they’ve apparently got plans for me but haven’t spilled the beans just yet.  Ellie has let me know she already made me my card and hid it somewhere in her room.  Oh, the mind of a 5 year old – let’s just say hidden is a relative term.  Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there – whether your kids are human-babies or fur-babies, I hope you are extra spoiled this weekend!!

Favorite Gown: My interns and I took a trip to see Lindsay at La Jeune Mariee this week for a class in all things bridal wear.  Lindsay just got back from Bridal Market in NYC and mentioned that they picked up Jenny Packham for the Bridal Collection.  These amazing gowns haven’t been available in Ohio until now so I was super excited!  This week’s gown is from Jenny Packham and is so appropriately named Rapunzel.  Gorgeous!

Favorite Bouquet: I love this beautiful blush and white bouquet with peonies, anemone, and astilbe.  So very pretty!

Favorite Bout: I like a little whimsy in a wedding and this bout fits the bill!  A little glitz rounds out the feather and (relatively) simple mum.

Favorite Cake: Simple with a beautiful shape and sweet silhouettes – what’s not to love on this cake?

Favorite Decor: Manzanita branches with pink roses and orchids as well as hanging amaranthus with beautiful candle holders lined this table.  Go see the rest of this wedding – so lovely and intimate!

Favorite Extra: In honor of this weekend’s running of The Kentucky Derby (139th to be exact) – how about a Mint Julep recipe?  I’m honestly not a big fan but they are a Kentucky classic!

Lots of things to celebrate this weekend – Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo, Gallery Hop and OSU’s graduation!  EDEP’s own intern Courtney will be graduating – very, very proud of her!!  Have a great weekend!

Favorite Gown: Loving this one shoulder number called Emporium from Pronovias.  I like the sash but it looks like it might be a separate piece which I like even more since that means you can (possibly) personalize it to your taste.  I also love the draping of the skirt and the train – so, so, so pretty!

Favorite Bouquet: I’m having a small love affair with yellow right now (I blame Sandy, my 4/13 bride, and her gorgeous yellow, black and white wedding!) so this bouquet totally fits my obsession!   Garden roses, lily of the valley, peonies, and astilbe make up this gorgeous yellow and white textured bouquet.  (Astilbe is the frilly, spiky flower close to the stems – it also comes in pink and I ADORE this rarely used flower.)

Favorite Bout: More astilbe – told you I adore it!  Ignore the beautiful rock behind it – picture a tux or suit instead!

Favorite Cake: Interesting take on ombre on this one!  I think this cake shows that wedding cakes don’t have to be perfectly smooth to be beautiful.  (Side note – I cannot find the original source on this one – just the link to Pinterest.  If you know where it came from, please comment so I can give credit where it is due!)

Favorite Decor: Ah-mazing pink orchids at the Mandarin Hotel in NYC.  Love the hanging glass orbs too – the whole thing is just breathtaking!

Favorite Extra: Confession, I’m not normally a shoe person.  I have stupid feet so for me shoe shopping is akin to bathing suit shopping.  I know, turn in my girl card.  All that being said, I die over these shoes.  I love the sparkles, I love the bow, I love me some Kate Spade Charm Heels.  Perfect wedding shoe.

Favorite Gown: I know, I know again with the jaw dropping back, what can I say?  I love a gorgeous exit.  :)  Meet Elisabeth from Nicole Miller.  I love the straps on the back and the simple, wide band at the waist which is pretty much perfect to add a little bling in the form of a belt or sash!

Favorite Bouquet: Pink, green, and white peonies, hydrangea and stephanotis make this bouquet perfectly textured and oh so sweet. Such a great springtime bouquet!

Favorite Bout: Love this little pink peony bout – the added green makes it still feel masculine.

Favorite Cake: Love the flowers on this one – so pretty and delicate.

Favorite Decor: I love using a sash as a sort of placemat on long tables – I did something similar for a photo shoot a few years ago and it looked amazing!  The lights and chandeliers are gorgeous as well.  I pretty much love everything about this set up!

Favorite Extra: I love this chalkboard style ceremony backdrop – it also obviously makes for great pictures.  Would be fabulous to do something like this for an open photobooth as well!

Favorite Dress: So I have been doing my Friday Favorites for a little while now and I am realizing that I have a thing for the back of dresses – this number from Essense of Australia is no different!  Look at that gorgeous lace and I love the deep V and sash!

Favorite Bouquet: Love the soft tones and mixed texture of this bouquet with dahlias, peonies, and garden roses.

Favorite Bout: I have to be honest, I don’t know whether it is a mum or a dahlia (I think it is a mum) but I love the pink bloom with the hypericum berries.  So bright and cheery!

Favorite Cake: Personally, I am not crazy about the letters but I am obsessed with the lace detail – so beautiful!

Favorite Decor: In honor of all the gorgeous cherry blossoms blooming in Washington DC right now, I had to show this lovely cherry blossom arch.  So simple and so pretty!!

Favorite Extra: Tangerines and clementines last about 0.42 seconds in my house – if I let them, both my girls would live on them!  If I ever can stash a few before they eat them, I will have to give this Double Tangerine Cocktail a try – this would be a great signature cocktail for an orange wedding too!

Favorite Gown: Meet Francisca from Watters – she’s so pretty!  I think this dress would create a beautiful, nipped in waist with that gorgeous draping.  Illusion is a lovely thing!

Favorite Bouquet: Love the color combo of yellow, grey and white.  Succulents, billy balls, ranunculus, lamb’s ear, and lots more fun blooms make this bouquet a stunner!

Favorite Boutonniere: Hypericum berries and fiddlehead fern – very masculine.

Favorite Cake: LOVE the lace fondant work on this cake – so beautiful!  The cake topper silhouettes are adorable as well!

Favorite Decor: Gold and coral against a neutral background is amazing!  Love the different chair pads – too lovely!

Favorite Extra: Well, it IS wedding season!  Cheers!
