Cakes for a Cause 2014 Recap!

The 5th annual Cakes for a Cause took place back on April 17 at The Mid-Ohio Foodbank and once again, we had an incredible evening doing a lot of good for the hungry in Central Ohio!  Thanks to Karen Evans for the beautiful pictures!!

We had over 200 very happy and hungry guests who enjoyed food from 4 caterers – Two Caterers, Cameron Mitchell Catering, Made From Scratch, and Creative Cuisine.  Snowville Creamery gave everyone a taste of their delicious milk and White Castle kept everyone caffeinated with their coffee!   Guests also enjoyed treats from the 5 bakers competing in our Sweet Taste of Victory competition – Alice’s Piece of Cake, Cool Cakes by Kate, McClain’s Creations, Tannicakes, and The End Desserts.

The End Desserts pulled out the victory in…well, in the end!

Jeni’s Ice Cream gave guests splits of their delicious treats – I still not sure how our attendees didn’t lapse into a sugar coma!

Our silent auction had some amazing cakes, sweets, and other fun items from local bakers and donors – here’s just a few examples of the goodies!

My daughters picked out this bunny tush cake as the one they really wanted!  I won the auction and it was delicious!

Our live auction featured some pretty spectacular cakes including a Steel Magnolias tribute, a fairy tale castle, a jukebox, local wine and cheese, and a very special superhero tribute cake to a little boy as well as a great package for a Hocking Hills getaway.

Many thanks to our other sponsors – Event Source who provided all the rental items, Flowers on Orchard Lane for the lovely blooms, Hughies who lit up our room, Team DJ who provided music, Camelor Cellars who provided Prosecco for the bar, Shutterbooth for the always fun photo booth, and Studio Z for the forth coming video – we can’t wait to relive all the fun!

In all, we raised over $9500 – that’s enough for the food bank to provide every meal for a year for 35 people!  Over 38,000 meals for those in need and we had a GREAT time doing it!

A special thank you to my partner in crime (and charity!) Kasey Skobel- Conyers.  xoxo
