I Twitter.

A lot.

I get my news, my gossip, updates from friends and colleagues across the country and lately Twitter seems to be the place that I find all the new things that people are playing with.  The newest fun thing to come down the line is Pintrest.

Pintrest is a virtual corkboard of sorts and would be a FANTASTIC place for brides and grooms to save the things they love – let’s be honest, you spend your lunch hour (and your unofficially extended lunch hour as well) surfing for ideas for your wedding, right? If you are surfing on a WORK computer, bookmarking those pages or pictures won’t do you much good when you are at home trying to remember where you saw that amazing bouquet.  Use Pintrest instead and you’ll have access to those pretty pictures and things you love from any internet connection. Plus you can share them with whomever you would like so sharing bridesmaid dress options just got easy-peasy!

It is super simple to get started and use too:
Step One: Sign up. Unless you get an invite you’ll have to request one – you can do that here: or drop me a line and I will send you one too.
Step Two: Set up your account and create boards. Maybe create one for florals, one for dresses, one for favor ideas – you get the picture.
Step Three: Drag the ‘Pin It’ link to your toolbar and start clicking it whenever you see something you want to save.

Want to see what I am pinning over? (Yes, that was a bad pun) Here you go:

New Area Bridal Store: Alfred Angelo

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

A new bridal store has opened in the Columbus area!  Alfred Angelo is open in the NW Columbus area – it is actually in the old IDG Jewelers store at the corner of 161 and Sawmill Road.

I would normally mention the opening on Twitter or Facebook but wouldn’t necessarily blog about it, so why am I posting this?  Because Alfred Angelo carries a complete range of SAMPLE sizes in store.  So what does that mean?  It means that if normal bridal sample sizes don’t fit you, you’ll actually able to try on gowns at this store!

The sizing works in groupings – 2-6, 6-10, 10-14, etc – all the way to 30W!  The store has every dress they carry in every size group – so if you see a dress you love online, you can likely try it on at the store no matter what size you wear!  To be clear, these aren’t dresses off the rack – they are all still special order but you’ll get an idea of what the dress will look like in your actual size.

If you aren’t sure what styles would look good, this would also be a great place to start – try on that mermaid gown, try on the strapless or the halter or the corset dress in your size, try on the ballgown or a-line style.  You’ll know how that style looks when the dress actually zips.

To some this might not seem like a big deal but when you go into a bridal store and every gown you try on is too small, it can be tough to imagine what a dress will look like when it does fit.  It also really puts a damper on the thrill of dress shopping to be told over and over that you’ll just have to picture it like it fits.

They also carry bridesmaids dresses up to 30W and have samples in store to try on in those styles as well.

Welcome to Columbus, Alfred Angelo!  I am sure quite a few people are going to be very happy to have you here!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Monday, February 14th, 2011

Whether you celebrate or refuse to acknowledge Valentine’s Day – hope your day is a wonderful one!

I had to share one of the funniest, silliest, most…interesting proposals I have seen in a long time!  I give you the Muppet Marriage Proposal:

Did you know that you can create your own Muppets in your likeness?  Or as Sid did, in the likeness of your true love as well?  He used the Muppets to film a fake movie trailer, he got his girlfriend to go to the movies and had the movie theater slip it into the trailers.  Friends and family snuck into the seats near them and helped them celebrate once she said yes.  And of course she said yes!  Would you turn down a Muppet proposal?
