Tagged! Part Two!

Another tagging by Miss Tara at A Lazar Soiree

6 random, unimportant things about myself:

1. My very first job was giving tours of a windmill while dressed in Dutch costume – more info on all that coming in May.
2. My feet are very ticklish – it took me years before I could get a pedicure without writhing in the chair.
3. I really dislike red wine – it gives me a headache and I just don’t like the taste BUT sangria is a totally different story.
4. I am slightly scared of grilling. I let Randy do it.
5. I was a camp counselor the summer between my freshman and sophomore years of college. I would recommend everyone have that experience!
6. I have a serious phobia of spiders – like run away screaming phobia.

I am tagging whoever hasn’t done this one yet! :)

Tagged! Part One!

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

I was tagged by Terrica at Fabuluxe Events but with some new rules that I believe Saundra from Planning Forever came up with. Rather than random facts, it is random songs that you normally might not admit that you like. This should be interesting!

Songs I like but generally won’t admit to the general population – no judging, we’re all friend here:

1. Down by the Bay by Raffi. Granted, this is because of Miss Elizabeth BUT I like to make up rhyming verses. I mean have you ever seen a cow taking a bow?

2. Hard Candy Christmas by Dolly Parton. 10 points if you can name what show/movie that song came from? And yes, I LOVE that movie.

3. Let’s Get Married Remix by Jagged Edge with Run DMC. I crank this before every single wedding to get my energy flowing and to get pumped.

4. All Out of Love by Air Supply. Need I say more?

5. ANYTHING by Abba. Have I mentioned lately that Mamma Mia is coming out on my birthday? :)

Whew…so there you go. Now my tags – you’re it ladies!

Seat Guru

Flying can be quite trying these days with the delays and cancellations, the cramped seats and lack of leg room. Unless you can swing the first class fare, you really should check Seat Guru before you click buy. Pick your airline, the plane you will be on and this site will tell you which seats are good and which aren’t – that way, you will at least know if you are stuck next to the lavatory on your way to the honeymoon! Not what I would call so romantic.

Wonderful Graffiti Wedding

Remember Colorforms? Picture those bigger and personalized and you have the gist of what Wonderful Graffiti is. Their wedding collection is fabulous – lots of ways to take that sterile ballroom and make it all your own. You may be wondering if it is easy to apply and if it actually works. I can say yes to both of those questions from personal experience – this picture below is Ellie in her nursery – the ‘E is for Ellie’ behind her is from WG.

True Love Logos

You know I love a monogram as part of a wedding – elegant, simple, fantastic for tying all the elements together. I am beginning to think that a wedding logo is even better – like a monogram but with a little something extra. Pick one of their standard designs or have them create one especially for you. My 6.7.08 bride just used them and the logo they created is adorable! It suits them beautifully and we are using it all over the wedding – I will share pictures with you after the wedding!

How to Tie a Tie

I have a confession: Unless I have a reminder sheet in front of me, I am not so good at tying ties. This site is the one I have printed out and in my Emergency Kit for reference. From a Windsor (Double Windsor), Half-Windsor, Four-In-Hand, Prat, Kelvin, St. Andrew to a Bowtie and Ascot, this site covers it all.

What to do with 20 lemons?

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

#64 on my Round 2 of 101 Things is to make Limoncello. The first step of that recipe happens to be the peeling of 20 lemons to soak in vodka. Once that is done, I will have the middle of 20 lemons.

What am I going to do with 20 lemons? Suggestions and recipes and such WELCOME!

Candy Warehouse

There are quite a few sites out there for stocking those wonderfully fun candy bars that are so popular at weddings! Candy Warehouse is one of my favorites, even if just for research, because you can shop by color – perfect for making sure that gorgeous display of candy coordinates with your reception. Want the whole candy bar to be one color? Start here!
