My favorite part of this site is the ‘Identify by Appearance’ feature – you answer a few questions about the letters in the font and it suggests fonts that match. It also lets you search fonts by name, by similarity to another font or by graphic elements. The graphic element search is great for those wedding logos that have replaced monograms as the new ‘must have’ detail. A very handy site for the DIYers out there!

Polka Dot Bride is an Australian blog written by the fabulous Ms. Polka. Right now she is working her way through the alphabet with her series called ‘ABC of Weddings’ – so far it has served up a TON of great information and inspiration. Make sure to read the Neckline section before you begin your dress search – really great info!

Ahhhh…Paper Source, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
35 colors of paper
39 sizes of paper, cards, booklets and folders
18 sizes of envelopes
7 sizes of labels and stickers

And that’s just the beginning – they have fun gift items, rubber stamps, file folders, invitations, letterpress items and lots of other things too. They have brick and mortar stores which do workshops and craft classes including some wedding-centric ones. I went to a paper source store once. It was like the mothership calling me home, I swear. I get all my paper and envelopes for Emilie Duncan Event Planning at Paper Source so you can tell I am a huge fan!

New Feature: Bookmark Worthy

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

For the next few months, I am going to try to feature a Bookmark Worthy site every day (or maybe every other day depending on how crazy things get around here). These will range from great online stores to blogs you should be reading to design tools to tricks of the trade. Some I have mentioned here before but most will be new.

I am so excited to share these sites with you and hope you will find some new bookmarks for your own list!

Unique non-guestBOOK idea

Monday, March 24th, 2008

From the One Love Photo blog – lots more pictures and info at their blog.

Shawn and Owen asked a artist friend to sketch a drawing onto canvas and then draw a grid over it. Each guest was asked to paint a square and the resulting painting now hangs in the couple’s house.

What a fun way to really involve your guests in your wedding and get a great everyday reminder of your wedding: art as guestbook. Very cool!

101 Things in 1001 Days – Round 2

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

I finally got the list posted for my 2nd round of 101 Things in 1001 Days! I am very excited to tackle this list and feel like it is a good mix of different things – both in and out of my comfort zone.

I got a small jump start on the list and already have 3 done – only 98 to go.

24. Take Ellie on her first plane ride
We flew to Arizona on March 1 and home on March 8 – she was a great flyer and her ears really didn’t seem to bother her during take off or landing. She flirted with all the other passengers and slept like a rockstar most of the flights. It was a great first trip!

30. Start Ellie in swim lessons so she isn’t scared of water
Ellie and I have been taking swim classes at the Dublin Recreation Center – Darling Ducklings. Lots of singing, splashing around and generally having a lovely time getting used to the water. She also went all the way underwater and did great – she might take after her mama on this one!

12. Buy a Wii
Still setting this up but everyone I know who has one LOVES it! Boxing should be a good way to get some stress out. 🙂

Need prayers for a friend, please

Friday, March 14th, 2008

I have a wonderful friend who I met online through our blogs a couple years ago. We got to meet in person while Randy and I were in NC on our babymoon last spring. She was a wedding planner but had to put her business on hold to take care of some health issues. She has had some testing recently and things are looking more complex than they had originally thought. Any prayers that you might offer up for Tara would be greatly appreciated, she could really use them right now.

Here is a picture of Tara and I after dinner in Wilmington, NC last spring:
