101 Things update

Monday, March 12th, 2007

I got to thinking about my 101 Things in 1001 Days challenge and realized that some of the things on the list are going to have to wait until the next 101 Things because of the latest big news – 11 things actually:

4. Take tap dancing lessons
(not with this belly – I don’t think I could handle the bouncing!)

7. Learn to salsa dance
(I have lost any sense of rhythm and I doubt I could pick it up at this point!)

8. Try to learn to surf
(my center of balance is already thrown off, board + water…does not = me!)

13. Kiss the Blarney Stone in Ireland again
(not going to travel overseas while I am pregnant as much as I would love to)

15. Watch the sunrise and sunset over a foreign beach
(again, no foreign travel planned at this point)

18. Take Randy to Disneyworld
(will probably wait until this little one is older and can join us)

20. Go downhill skiing
(see surfing)

36. Go water skiing
(see surfing AND downhill skiing)

37. Run a mile without stopping
(not gonna happen)

79. Adopt another dog to keep Truman the Dog company
(will probably wait until the baby is a little older)

98. Ride a roller coaster with my hands up the whole way!
(they don’t let pregnant people on roller coasters!)

Plus there are also 4 things that might not get done based on where we decide to go on vacation before the baby is born – our Babymoon:

12. Bet $20 on Red in Las Vegas

17. Take a ride on the Maid of the Mist at Niagara Falls

22. Go to the Grand Canyon

23. See a Saturday Night Live taping in person

So, that is the update – I have completed 26 things with a few more that could be completed with a smidge of effort on my part. We’ll see where it ends up. I think the new list will be fun because I’ll be able to add “Baby Things’!

The Wedding Belles

Friday, March 9th, 2007

(Pardon me while I try to stop cringing.)

Fox has a new show called the Wedding Belles – theoretically about 3 wedding planning sisters – realistically…well, nothing about the show is realistic actually. I TiVoed it and finally watched it today.

You know, I must be friends with and working with the wrong wedding vendors! I am missing out on all the fun! Apparently other wedding vendors are:

*Seducing married groomsmen in broom closets during rehearsal.
*Giving the minister $500 to mention Jesus at a half Jewish ceremony.
*Having photographers tell their brides to HOIST THEIR GOWNS in an attempt to make them feel ‘sexy’ before they walk down the aisle.
*Having drinks while they are working.

My friend Kelly in Florida said it best:
“Seriously, if they had just taken the Law and Order method, you know, “Ripped from the headlines”, the show would have been hilarious.”

Obviously, I am not the only wedding vendor cringing and would just like to remind everyone that this is the same network that brought us, “Married by America” AND “Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire.”

Thank you!

Wow, this last week has been fun – thank you to everyone who has emailed and called and commented. We are very excited for this new addition and cannot wait to get them up and helping with weddings…okay, obviously a few years off but you get the idea.

The most common question was will we find out what we are having. A resounding YES to that question! We find out in about 7 weeks and I will post the news here. We are finding out for one very simple reason: Randy has to hide Christmas gifts from me at his office and other people’s houses because if I were to find them, I would probably unwrap them to take a peek and then re-wrap them again – I have done it, I am just that good. No use trying to talk us out of it, I have felt this way forever.

Thank you all again for the kind thoughts, the prayers and the excited emails and the general joy you have brought to the last week!

Some pretty big news…

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Why have I been crying at the Pedigree shelter dog commercials?
Why have I been eating pickles every day and craving really spicy food?
Why have I been sleeping more than normal?

Baby Duncan is due September 10 and Randy and I could not be more excited!

On the Emilie side: I have been feeling really good – not much morning sickness and I am getting my energy back. I am also starting to show ever so slightly which is pretty cool!

On the EDEP side: Emilie Duncan Event Planning will continue to work with our early 2007 couples and all our 2008 couples but will not be be accepting any more weddings for the last half of 2007.
