You never know what you might need…
Monday, February 26th, 2007I take a huge emergency kit with me to every wedding. It is a rolling bag that has tons of pockets and places for everything that a bridal party and wedding guests might need throughout the course of the day. I can fully admit that it might look ridiculous to be toting all this stuff around on a wedding day, when I can pull something really random out of it and save the day – well, then is doesn’t look so silly. You might be surprised to hear all the different things that I have used from it. Just a few of the items:
- Crochet Hook – the only reason that a bride with a dress with 60 buttons up the back of her dress got down the aisle on time. Also, the only reason that another bride with 16 bustle points got to her reception on time.
- Iron/Steamer – helped take the wrinkles out the tie of a ring bearer who decided that his tie was better stuffed in his shoe than on his neck.
- Traction Patches for Shoes – helped steady the groom who was terrified he was going to slip and fall on the marble of the altar.
- WD40 – for a section on the stage that the chuppah was on that squeaked really obviously during rehearsal. Luckily the WD40 stopped it from drowning out the vows.
- Altoids – I have gone through more tins that I can count!
- Index Cards – used by numerous best men to jot down their speeches. Interestingly, I have never had a maid of honor ask for these…
I have also used more safety pins, packets of Advil, hair pins and pearl head pins than I can begin to count.
*Thanks to Kelly for the idea for this post – even if your kit is in a little black bag rather than a big rolling one.
